A Year in Books Survey

                          2012 End of Year

                    Book Survey

Hosted By the Perpetual Page Turner

1. Best Book You Read In 2012? (You can break it down by genre if you want)

Katie - best debut novel goes to Cinder by Marissa Meyer , best in a series goes to Insurgent by Veronica Roth

2. Book You Were Excited About & Thought You Were Going To Love More But Didn’t?

Krisha - This would be the Scorch Trials (book #2 in the Maze Runners series).  Book 1 was pretty good, but the Scorch Trials just had more questions than answers.  It was actually pretty frustrating and not in an "I can't wait to read more" kind of way.

 3. Most surprising (in a good way!) book of 2012?

Katie - well i guess for me the most surprising read this year was Jenny Pox. It was a book i have never heard of , by an author i had never heard of, and IT WAS FREE ON KINDLE. But oh my what a pleasant surprise, not only did i love it, it one of my top 5 reads this year!

 4. Book you recommended to people most in 2012?

Krisha - We started the blog this later in the year and I couldn't help but talk about one of my favorite books, The Book of Lost Things.  Both Katie & I were recommending this book before the blog was started.

 5. Best series you discovered in 2012?

Katie - definitely the Paranormal series by J.L. Bryan.  i read all four books in the series this year, and super fast!

 6. Favorite new authors you discovered in 2012?

Krisha - It is obviously no surprise if you are familiar with us ladies of Inkk, it is hands down JL Bryan.

7. Best book that was out of your comfort zone or was a new genre for you?

Katie - well im going to make a prediction for this one. because i haven't really read many books out of my comfort zone this year, but i recently got "The Fault in our Stars" by John Green. It's not normally the genre i read, but i have heard so many good things from it that i just have to read it. so i predict i will love it... hope i'm right!

 8. Most thrilling, unputdownable book in 2012?

Krisha - I'm going to go with The Uglies.  It only to one sitting per book in the series to get them read.  They were so exciting and unpredictable.  I loved them!  Plus they sparked some good discussion between me & Katie.

 9. Book You Read In 2012 That You Are Most Likely To Re-Read Next Year:

Katie - Insurgent by Veronica Roth for sure! sadly there is year gap from when i read Insurgent to when i will read book #3 in the Divergent series. so i know for a fact that i will have to re-read this!

10. Favorite cover of a book you read in 2012?

Krisha - This was a little tough.  All the books I read this year were exclusively on the Kindle and I didn't really get to see book covers in all their artistic glory.  But, being a forestry major, I'm going with Insurgent because it has an awesome looking interpretation of the tree of life on it.  And I like the colors.

11. Most memorable character in 2012?

Katie - Alex from Jennifer L. Armentrout's Covenant series, so full of witty sarcasm, she feels like a real person to me.

 12. Most beautifully written book read in 2012?

Krisha - I read Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein this summer.  I bawled like a baby at the end.  It was so beautifully written and told from the pov of a faithful and loyal dog.  As an animal lover, I felt this was a very believable book.

13. Book that had the greatest impact on you in 2012?

Katie - Well i guess im going to go with the Uglies Series by Scott Westerfeld, Even though i only read the last book in the series "The Extras" this year, i feel that that this whole series is based on such a deep rooted issue of being happy with who you are, just the way you are. What a great series!

 14. Book you can’t believe you waited UNTIL 2012 to finally read?

Krisha - I didn't read Matched by Allie Condie until this past January.  What the heck was I waiting on???

 15. Favorite Passage/Quote From A Book You Read In 2012?

Katie - “He who leaps for the sky may fall, it's true. But he may also fly.”
― Lauren OliverDelirium

16.Shortest & Longest Book You Read In 2012?

Krisha - Shortest would be Free Four.  It is a novella that fits in betwwen Divergent and Insurgent.  Nothing really sticks out as being a long book.  Maybe one of my textbooks that was forced upon me.

 17. Book That Had A Scene In It That Had You Reeling And Dying To Talk To Somebody About It? (a WTF moment, an epic revelation, a steamy kiss, etc. etc.) Be careful of spoilers!

Katie - ugh for sure book 4 in J.L. Bryan's Paranormal series "Jenny Plague Bringer" OMG i have so many book marked scenes in that book.. blush worthy scenes for sure!

18. Favorite Relationship From A Book You Read In 2012 (be it romantic, friendship, etc).

Krisha - I like Tally and Shays on-again/off-again friendship in the Uglies series.  Any girl can appreciate the ups and downs through all 4 books.

19. Favorite Book You Read in 2012 From An Author You Read Previously

Katie - I guess Insurgent, i had read Divergent ( book one ) by Veronica Roth last year, and Insurgent was my most anticipated and enjoyed book of 2012 !

20. Best Book You Read That You Read Based SOLELY On A Recommendation From Somebody Else:

Krisha - Uh, ALL my books from2012!  lol   Katie put them all on my Kindle and insisted recommended that I read them all.  :)

Katie - Oddly enough the post that had the most pageviews was our review on Percy Jackson and the Olympians

8. Post You Wished Got A Little More Love?

Krisha - We totally rocked our video review for Alexander Death.  JL Bryan even tweeted about it.  I don't think it has quite gotten the love it deserves.  And it's me and Katie plus wine and books... it's what our blog is about!

9. Best bookish discover (book related sites, book stores, etc.)?

Katie - Humm , my favorite bookish discovery is that working in the school systems entitles me to an "Educator Card" from Barnes & Nobles that gives me a whopping 20% off.. WOOT WOOT

10.  Did you complete any reading challenges or goals that you had set for yourself at the beginning of this year?

Krisha - I hadn't set any goals at the begining of the year because at the time I was just a casual reader.  Now as I blogger, I have lots of goals that I've recently set that I hope to acheive.

               Looking Ahead…

1. One Book You Didn’t Get To In 2012 But Will Be Your Number 1 Priority in 2013?

Katie - Definitly the Mark of Athena by Rick Riordan , ive owned it for a while but i have been so behind reading book for review that i haven't gotten to it yet, also Deity the 3rd book in the Covenant series by Jennifer L. Armentrout.

Krisha - I plan to start contacting publishers early in 2013.  I also am resolving to write a review for every book I read this year as soon as I'm done with it.
