Book Tour: The Stone Guardian

The Stone Guardian by Theresa McClinton

When myth becomes reality, reality becomes a nightmare.

Like any other teenager in America, Ashley just wants a normal life. But growing up in an orphanage for the insane is anything but normal. After endless therapy and increasing medication, her nightmares have only gotten worse.

Probably because they’re not nightmares.

When Ashley’s mysteriously abducted, she finds a reality even less normal than the orphanage. And she discovers something else—she’s no ordinary orphan. Faced with enemies thought to only exist in fairy tales, Ashley discovers she possesses a powerful Maya bloodline. She’s the daughter of an ancient Maya Guardian, whose duty is to protect the Stone of Muuk’ich, an enchanted relic blessed by the gods. But first she must get it back from Sarian, a power-hungry demigod who slaughtered the last guardian—Ashley’s mother. Without the stone, all will be lost.

When she meets Arwan, a hot Belizean time bender, his delicious olive skin and dark eyes make her feel a little less alone. But his gentle whispers and reassuring touch might not be all they seem. How can she balance love and duty when it’s up to her to prevent the rising of the underworld? Especially when the guy she loves might be its crown prince…

About the Author:

A long time enthusiast of things that go bump in the night, Theresa started her writing career as a journalism intern—possibly the least creative writing field out there. After her first semester at a local newspaper, she washed her hands of press releases and features articles to delve into the whimsical world of young adult paranormal romance.

Since then, Theresa has gotten married, had three terrific kids, moved to central Ohio, and was repeatedly guilt tripped into adopting a menagerie of animals that are now members of the family. But don’t be fooled by her domesticated appearance. Her greatest love is travel. Having stepped foot on the soil of over a dozen countries, traveled to sixteen U.S. states—including an extended seven-year stay in Kodiak, Alaska—she is anything but settled down. But wherever life brings her, she will continue to weave tales of adventure and love with the hope her stories will bring joy and inspiration to her readers.

  2. Wow, that's fantastic! I would love to be able to do that, but like you said, they stopped tourists from such close access because of destruction and even some vandalism if you can believe that! I couldn't imagine someone traveling so far to see the ruins just to spray paint all over them. :( It's so sad.

If you're open for a review anytime, I'd love to query you for The Stone Guardian. The ruins aren't in book one, but book two is filled with jungle and ruins and some amazing wilderness. I'm very excited to share the sequel with readers. :)

When did you travel to the ruins? And what country did you visit? How exciting that would be!

    1. i know, i can't believe they closed it off to tourist. or why people would vandalize such a place! i went to Cancun Mexico in 2000 and we drove to the Yucatan to see the ruins. Tulum and Chitzen Itza were a few that we saw. So glad i got to climb to the top when i had the opportunity! Id love to review The Stone Guardian, im only open to print copies right now, if you would like to send me one send me and email, and will forward you my address. Have you been to see the ruins as well ? i know that you are very well traveled. I wish i was able to travel that much. I do get out of the county but all my travels tend to lead me to beach destinations such as Mexico, Dominican Republic and St. Lucia. how you lived in Alaska for seven years i will never understand!!!! burrr - Katie

  3. Katie,

I go print in February, so maybe you can reserve a slot for The Stone Guardian then? :)

I have only been to Baja, Mexico, which is actually "technically" California. LOL. I went on a school trip in high school (one of the trips that began my love of travel.) On that trip I had the opportunity to pet a humpback whale among other powerful experiences that hooked me on exploring the world. But man, how I would love, adore, swoon over the prospect of venturing into the rainforest. I've always wanted to explore jungle territory, which is one reason Arwan knows so much about it! He's an expert in all things jungle, which makes sense since he grew up in Belize. If he were real, I think every girl on earth would be in big trouble. He's my dream man....besides my husband...of course! LOL

My best friend is from the Dominican Republic! She tells me about it all the time, and I would love to visit there sometime too.

Alaska was a great place to live. I'm actually writing a new adult contemporary romance set on Kodiak, Alaska. I can't wait to bring it to readers!

Thanks for being so conversational! I love chatting with people. ;)
