Top Ten "Older" Books You Don't Want People To Forget About (you can define older however you wish. Basically just backlisted books you think are great. Basically the point is to share books that could be forgotten about in the midst of all the new releases)
the way we are going to do "Top Ten Tuesday" here at Inkk is that we will both (Katie and Krisha ) give you our top 5 picks, to give you a total of 10. It is likely however that we may share some of the same ideas, that just goes to show you how we think alike.
1 Katie: the Uglies series by Scott Westerfeld , first published in 2005. This series was amazing and i am not sure if it got all the attention that it needed. I think alot of other great series came out about this time, but i think this series is a great read, and one to check out for sure!
2 Krisha: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams- An interesting book that I read in high school. Always think of this book whenever I see the number "42".
3 Katie: The Book of Lost Things by John Connolly published in 2006. I know i have posted this book in a couple of other events, but it really is an amazing book, and i stand by what i said in Our Review, this is the best book you have never heard of !
4 Krisha: Coraline by Neil Gainman- I'm not sure how many people read the book vs. saw the movie, but it's a great little treasure on my bookshelf.
6 Krisha : The Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum - There are so many movie adaptations out there (and a new one coming out soon, more on that later) and so few people that have read the book. It's on my kindle as a classic and had the joy of rereading it recently.
9 Krisha: Lord of the Flies by William Golding- My boyfriend's choice for my list (he is peering over my shoulder as I type). When I asked why, he said that it was short, suspenseful and full of symbolism.
10 Katie: The Green Mile by Stephen King - in highschool, after grown out of the goosebumps, and fear streets i started venturing into some of Stephen Kings book, now i do know "The Green Mile" definitly got its time to shine when it was made into a movie, but i still don't want it to be forgotten i thought it was a great book.
I think we were both running low on books for this TTT, and really weren't sure what direction to take it. Whether to take it way back to super old books, or books in the 2000's that you think didn't get their spot to shine, or thought were over looked.. so i think we both gave you some of both.

5 Katie: Hatchet by Gary Paulsen - one of the few book i did read when i was in middle school, recommended to me by my cousin Michael. The hatchet is a great story of a boy, the only survivor of a plane crash has to make it in the wild with just a hatchet. I recommend this book for any middle age boy!
6 Krisha : The Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum - There are so many movie adaptations out there (and a new one coming out soon, more on that later) and so few people that have read the book. It's on my kindle as a classic and had the joy of rereading it recently.
7 & 8
Krisha : Goosebumps series by R.L Stein - Though I didn't read many of them, I feel that they were an iconic series of the 90's.
Katie: Awesome pick Krisha, i totally think these are iconic, and super meaningful to me. the only books i did read in middle school were goosebumps books! I also started a Goosebumps book club in my school. oh yeah... im just that cool !
9 Krisha: Lord of the Flies by William Golding- My boyfriend's choice for my list (he is peering over my shoulder as I type). When I asked why, he said that it was short, suspenseful and full of symbolism.

You were the last blog I was going to comment on tonight before I collapsed after some very long days. If you read my list I mentioned I just wanted to find one person who read the Book of Lost Things and loved it as much as I did. So glad I kept my eyes open for just one more. Indeed it is the best book you have never heard of.

YES! Hatchet! I have The River on my shelf right now. I still marvel that Paulsen could write a story that has only one character for the majority of the book and still make it so incredibly compelling.
