Book Tour: Deer in Headlights Character Interview & Review

Katie:  Lucky Me, I get to interview the Main Character from Deer in Headlights, Aphrodite ( Dita ), the goddess of Love and Beauty! Welcome Dita, Thanks so much for answering my mere mortal questions! Tell the readers something about you that would surprise us. Something we might not know just by Googling you.

Dita: I hage throwing things away. Like, anything. It's kind of a problem.

Katie: Ha! I have the same problem! So, you go by Dita now, and a couple of your fellow gods have also shortened their names as well, Heff ( Hephestus), Perry (Persephone). When did you start going by Dita?

Dita: Ages ago. It was a natural shortening of my name. Aphrodite's just so...formal. And it sounded so much better in Greek. In English it's just annoying.

Katie: Cool! ... So on to something more serious. In the book you said that sometimes you have bad days, and have been known to curse mortals in the love department. What's the worse, and best thing you have done? Any regrets?

Dita: Gods, she told you about that? Ugh. I'm not even going to tell you the absolute worst thing that I did, beacuse you would seriously hate me. But one time, on the subway, I made a rich actress make out with a dirty homeless guy. I'm pretty sure he was missing teeth. The tabloids went bananas.

Katie: O..M..G you must have had a bad day! So, for the most part you and the other gods up there in NYC seem to stay up to date with all of the trends and modern technology. Is there any electronic devices or trends through the years that you have just passed on, or thought it was a flop?

Dita: We love humans, so we usually adopt their trends without a second thought. Through I will admit that Laser Discs always seemed pretty stupid to me.

Katie: Ok, Time for some quickies ! Short,  sweet and to the point!
If you had to represented by one color in a box of 64 Crayola Crayons, what color would you be?

Dita: Bittersweet

Katie: Coffee or Tea?

Dita: COFFEE!!!!

Katie: Sandals or High Heels?

Dita: Sandals

Katie: 80's or 90's

Dita: 80's

Katie: Favorite Book?

Dita: Twilight ( DON'T LOOK AT ME LIKE THAT! )

Katie: Favorite Ice Cream Flavor?

Dita: Ben and Jerry's Cheesecake Brownie

Awesome answers, and I too am a Twilight fan, so no judgeing here!  Thanks Dita for chatting with me today! It's been so much fun, and such an Honor! Now its time to show the readers some Awesomeness from Deer in Headlights...

What do the Greek gods do when they're bored? Because they're always bored, so humans are the perfect players in their games.

Aphrodite owns love; she hasn't lost a competition on her turf in over three millennia. Apollo is on a mission to win. He's counting on it to finally get the one woman he's never been able to have. The two gods will choose their human players, and if Aphrodite can't get them together before the clock runs out, Apollo will get his way. And Aphrodite couldn't have that. Lex and Dean are perfect for each other, they just don't know it yet. Dean is a perpetual bachelor, and a brooding, beautiful rock star. Lex is always with a man, but she'll never fully give herself up. Aphrodite has her work cut out for her, but if she can't make it work, no one can.
The gods have their own drama. Apollo killed Aprhodite's mortal love - they've got beef that's been dragging on for thousands of years. Ares, the douchebag, is forever trying to pick a fight, and trying to get Aphrodite into bed. And Persephone, Aphrodite's best friend, is the one person who Aphrodite shares everything with. Follow the gods as they fight, laugh, cry, lose love, gain power, and make a mess with humans.

               My Thoughts

Deer in Headlights is a fun and sexy new twist on Greek Mythology! It is so very different from your run of the mill Greek Mythology spin off stories in that its main focus is not on Demi gods or Mortal heros, but rather on the gods themselves.

My Book Summary

The gods have been around FOREVER, and lets face it, they are bored. For fun they hold competitions between each other. Whoever Wins gets a token from the loser, which means they have to do them a favor. Dita ( Aphrodite ) is up against Apollo and they have a long and shaky history together. In the past Apollo killed Dita's mortal lover, and in return Dita Changed Apollo's lover into a tree.... can I hear an "Ak-ward"... So this is how the game goes: Apollo picks a male mortal man as his "player," and Dita Picks her mortal player. Apollo will try whatever he can to keep the two apart, but if by the end of the time period the two human players fall in love then Dita wins. But if Apollo can tear them apart then he will win a token from Dita and get back the one thing he wants the most!

I am a huge fan of stories that incorporate Greek Mythology such as Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson Series and J.L Armentrout's Covenant Series, so of course I was super excited when I got the book in the mail. Deer in Headlights, while it still was 100% about greek Mythology, embodies a totally different feel to it. It shows us the gods up close and personal. Unlike your typical Mythology updates, Deer in Headlights is more light hearted and very sexy... I know Aphrodite is the goddess of love and beauty but *gesh* A mortal lover; Ares, her occasional hook up; and Heff ( Hephaestus ) her Husband, She is a lady with her hands full if you know what I mean! I would probably fit this book into the NA Genre. The Cover is AMAZING, I am a big fan of bold and simple designs. I loved Deer in Headlights and was so pleased to get a different type of read from a Greek Mythology view point. I can't wait for the other books in the series!

           About the Author

Staci has been a lot of things up to this point in her life -- a graphic designer, an entrepreneur, a seamstress, a clothing and handbag designer, a waitress. Can't forget that. She's also been a mom; she has three little girls who are sure to grow up to break a number of hearts. She's been a wife; even though she's certainly not the cleanest, or the best cook. She's also super, duper fun at a party, especially if she's been drinking whiskey. Her favorite word starts with f, ends with k, and there a uc in there. Just saying. From roots in Houston, to a seven year stint in Southern California, Staci and her family ended up settling somewhere in between and equally north, in Denver. They are new enough that snow is still magical. When she's not writing, she's sleeping, cleaning, or designing graphics. But let's be honest, she's mostly writing.
