Top Ten Bookish People You Want To Meet (Authors, Bloggers, etc.)
the way we are going to do "Top Ten Tuesday" here at Inkk is that we will both (Katie and Krisha ) give you our top 5 picks, to give you a total of 10. It is likely however that we may share some of the same ideas, that just goes to show you how we think alike.
Good friends with Katie, Loretta introduced us to the world of book blogging. She has given us many wonderful tips and really helped us in the start-up of our page.
An Irish Author, I have so many questions for him regarding one of my favorite reads ever " The Book of Lost Things". But most of all, I would love to talk to him and ask him how, amonst all of his realitic criminal thriller, he came up with an amazing adult fairy tale drama! I would love to pick his brain about this book!
She is only 24 years old and has a book series out that (in my opinion) should be as big as Twilight and Hunger Games. I follow her on Facebook and I think she is pretty awesome.
Katie: I tottally agree! what an amazing series, and an amazing young writer i also follow her on FB as well, and was super to hear recently that there is a movie in the future for Divergent! this is a must read book, and for sure a great author to follow!
YA Author of the Percy Jackson & the Olympians seriesI love his personal story and how he created the Percy Jackson series. I have read more books by Riordan than any one else. Most authors are female, so it's cool to have some books with a more masculine writing style.
Katie: My pick as well. I love love love how he can take one story from greek , or roman mythology and spin that story into a modern day version. Where and what would Medusa be doing today? of course she would be working in a stone garden.. i love all of his ideas, i would read anything he writes!
American novelist, television writer, producer and film director. If Rick Riordan is first, Then I think Trigiani would be next. Oh yeah, and other than all those Babysitter's Club books I read as a kid. :) The books I've read are about Italian Americans and I love the Big Stone Gap series because it takes place in the southern Appalachian Mountains. My favorite thing about her books, she includes real recipes of some of the Italian foods that the characters are eating.
The Time Travlers Wife was really one of the first books that i read when i "started reading". Not only was this book amazing and the best love story trough "time" but i was extremely amazed that TTTW was Audrey Niffenegger's debut novel that lead to a best seller that led to a great Movie!
Literary LegendWhat can I say about Twain that hasn't already been said? When I read his books, I am taken to that place and time. His autobiography is on my "to read" list. Fun fact: He had it arranged to where the autobiography wouldn't be published until 100 years after his death, so the book was not available until 2010.
Ok, well maybe i am biased , but this is my Cousin and up and comming new Author. Yes this TTT is bookish people you would like to meet, but we really don't see each other that often, and i for sure haven't seen her since she has become a published author, and a law student on the side ;) I am looking forward to her YA thriller BORED TO DEATH !
I love your list. I can't believe I missed Mark Twain. I loved his books. I still haven't read Veronica Roth's books, but I want to so bad. They look and sound amazing. Thanks for stopping by Reading It All.

Awesome list!! I met Veronica Roth briefly and OMG she is so TALL! lol. LOVED TTW and would love to meet her! Also, so cool that your cousin is going to be a published author soon!!
ReplyDeleteGlad to have stumbled across your blog!
Jamie, i am so jealous that you got to meet Veronica Roth, and by the looks of it from your TTT a bunch of other great authors ! We are very new to the book blogging world , but Krisha and I are super psyched to be a part of it! And yes , its super coincidental that i enjoy reading books, and apparently my cousin Chanel Cleeton enjoys writing them.. while in law school which i thought was pretty crazy. I am excited for her, but even more excited that she writes YA books . You've got a great blog , and thanks so much for stopping by!

I really want to read the Book of Lost Things after reading you guys' review-- I love books where the characters find their way into another world, etc. (It comes from an early obsession with The Chronicles of Narnia.)
ReplyDeleteI'd love to meet Rick Riordan, too-- he has a great writing style, though I don't know about most authors being female (?) Veronica Roth seems so cool-- I love that she wrote Divergent while she was in college! Great list. :)
Kat @ A Myriad of Books
Kat,
DeleteI truly recommend getting Book of Lost Things in print. You'll want to keep it forever.
And, just looking through the books Katie & I read, it seems that there are more female authors on our shelves. But maybe we need to branch out more! Any suggestions?
Krisha @ Inkk
