Lara packs her bags and sets off on an epic adventure, meeting billionaire Arabic Princes, rugged cowboys, a sparkling wannabe vampire, a love guru with sex on the brain and Angelina Jolie’s bodyguards along the way. The Extraordinary Life of Lara Craft Excerpt

Just as Lara was about to send a message to her mum to let her know she’d arrived in Bali safely, she was engulfed by a pair of arms reaching over the back of her chair, around her shoulders.
‘What the…’ She shot up, scraping her chair back and facing the stranger - a longhaired woman, roughly five feet tall, wearing about six pendants on leather straps around her neck, purple fisherman pants and a white top that looked as though it had been crocheted by a giant spider. She was beaming, like the moon. ‘Jaguar Moonbeam?’ Lara hesitated a guess.
‘That’s me,’ the woman said. And before Lara could speak another word she was being pressed against her bosom, getting a mouthful of thick, wiry, unwashed hair. ‘It’s sooooooooo good to meet you.’
‘Um…’ Lara mumbled, tensing in the woman’s embrace.
‘I’m soooooo sorry I’m late. Mercury always messes with my schedule when it’s retrograde.’
Lara tried to pull away, but apparently it wasn’t time.
‘You’re a special soul. I can feel your energy.’
‘Thank you,’ Lara said, wondering how long the woman was going to hug her for.
Moonbeam set her free then, standing back and nodding her head, smiling wistfully.
‘Here, I brought this for you. From Bangkok,’ Lara said quickly, before things could get any more awkward. She handed her the package, debating whether to ask what was inside.
Jaguar Moonbeam carefully placed the unopened package into her purse. ‘The final ingredient,’ she whispered, more to herself than to Lara. Then she looked up suddenly, her eyes narrowing and her lips twitching rather alarmingly, ‘What are your plans while you’re here in Bali?’
Lara sat down again and shrugged. She didn’t like to say she was planning to cycle through rice paddies until she bumped into a sexy Brazilian man.
‘Lara, in order to complete the circle, we need a woman of pre-menopausal age who has placed feet on three foreign shores in the last six months. My friend, Sacred Heart Chakra was going to volunteer. She’s been performing spiritual realignment and meridian management to the disabled rafters in Mori on the Uttaranchal, but now she’s stuck in the Gawler Ranges redecorating an Aboriginal dressing room with feng shui, so she can’t make it. Do you think you could help?’
Lara was still stuck on the word chakra. But she was pretty sure she’d just been invited to do something weird. She shook her head. The last thing she needed was to mess up another trip. This time she had every intention of doing absolutely nothing, except sunning herself and maybe eating gelato and perhaps trying out some yoga until her next delivery instruction came through.
But Jaguar Moonbeam was looking at her imploringly, twiddling her pendants and emitting a strange, hempy smell that reminded Lara of the hippy store in Covent Garden; the one that sold the Ouija boards and tarot cards and scented candles. She’d always been intrigued by that store. And by crystals. Although admittedly, she much preferred the champagne kind these days.

‘What does it involve?’ she asked, hoping it wasn’t more hugging.
