Top Ten Books I almost put down but I didn't

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by

This Week's Topic is:

Top Ten Books I almost put down but I didn't.

# 1 & 2 Beautiful Chaos & Beautiful Darkness

Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl

I don' know why at this point I keep reading this series. I totally loved the First book in the series, Beautiful Creatures and wanted so badly to love the other book in this series. I hate not finishing A series so I have continued to read them... but I continuously put them on the back burner.

# 3 The Prophet of Yonwood

Jeanne DuPrau

The is absolutely one of my favorite series. this is book 3? in the City of Ember Series, which i LOVE LOVE LOVE by the way. However, The Prophet of Yonwood was pretty much just a prequel, which those pretty much make me mad in general, I was ready to skip over this one and continue reading about my main characters...

# 4 Betwixt

Tara Bray Smith

This book is awful, in fact I read the thing and I'm pretty sure I have no earthly idea what the hell is happening!  I read the whole thing through just in case everything came together, I kept waiting for a big "ahhh haaaa " moment that never came.... this is so my bad, I 100% picked up this book because I thought the cover was cool.... never again ....

# 5 Twisted

Sara Shepard

This is like book 100 in the Pretty Little Liars Series, no I'm exaggerating, its really #9 in the series but dang, I get burnt out after while. I finished book 9 but I have not continued further on with the series out of sheer frustration that I will never truly EVER know all of their pretty little secrets! I have also stopped watching the show.. I used to love it but now its sooooo different from what the books where... I just had to call it quits.

# 6 The Death Cure

James Dashner

Well This is the third and last book ( if you don't count the prequel, and I don' t** see rant earlier about hating prequels) in the Maze Runner Series. I was a big fan of book one and two in the series, but was not happy with Death Cure, nor did I like how the series ended. Came close to putting it down.

# 7 The Old Man and The Sea

Ernest Hemingway

You know that one book that your parents make you read when you young... blah blah  " you gotta read the classic Katie " Yeah, well this was that one. I hated this book, maybe I would care for it or appreciate it more now as an adult, but it was being made to read books like this in middle school that really kept me from reading more. I read it... but i didn't enjoy it a single drop

# 8 Dead Man's Hand

Eddie Jones

Dang... what can I say, We were giving this book as a review copy and It really wasn't for me. I thought it would be a middle grades adventure similar to the feels i have for Percy Jackson and the Olympian Series, but it really fell short. I read it of corse for the review, but thats the only reason I kept reading.

# 9 The Necromancer

Michael Scott

This is another series that reminds me of the ever continuing Pretty Little Liars Series. I was very addicted to book one in the series, The Alchemist , but now after so many books it just feels like its dragging . The Necromancer is book 4 in the series, and there are currently 6 in the series. Book 4 is the last one I read.

# 10 The Vampire Shrink

Lynda Hilburn

This was another book I was giving for review. I love the Sookie Stackhouse Books and the TV show True Blood, but The Vampire Shrink was definitely not as good and as addicting as that series. I Finished this book mostly for the review.

Thanks for stopping by our TTT this week!

  1. I think book 11 is as far as I've got in the PLL series. Ughh I want to just finish the series, but I feel like it's NEVER going to end. Even though she says 16 is the last book. I do love the TV show though.

  2. Hmmm. I'm surprised about The Death Cure. I loved that whole series. I can see where you are coming from though about that ending. It definitely wasn't what I was expecting.

  5. I've been told that the Pretty Little Liars series are really good, but I've never read any of them. How many books are there in the series, though? I hope you have time to read a good book next time that you WON'T put down :))

  6. I DID put The Prophet of Yonwood down... just couldn't get into it. I haven't read any of the others. (I read the first of the Michael Scot books, but didn't keep going for some reason.) Oh, no, wait, of course I read The Old Man and the Sea in school. At the time it was just "meh", but I wonder what I would think of it now.

  7. It looks like you had an issue with the Beautiful Creatures series, I've only read the first one but I'm hoping to get through the rest of them this year. I hope they weren't too slow. I plan on reading The Maze Runner series this year too. I've been told they're really good so hopefully I'll like the series end a little bit more than you.

  8. Totally agree with you on the Pretty Little Liars series. So ridiculous & really difficult to keep up with all the secrets, relationship changes & 10 different A's! Thanks for stopping by our TT :) - Rachel

  9. I love this topic for the TTT, it's so interesting finding out what books people almost didn't read and how they liked them. I didn't like the Beautiful Creatures series, I find the story and characters too contrived and unbelievable. I love the City of Ember series too, but I haven't read the Prophet of Yonwood. I got frustrated with the Pretty Little Liars TV show because it dragged too much and just didn't make sense with the mystery of A and the stupid gloves she wore. I enjoyed The Maze Runner series, but like you, I'm not so sure about the ending.

The Old Man and the Sea is one of my most favorite books in the world. =) I think you'd have to be a fisherperson to really appreciate the book, though I can't speak for other fisherpeople. I fished with my father a lot when I was younger, and the whole story of the Old Man fighting to keep and land the marlin was so exciting to me. I felt the same excitement as if I was really there and trying to reel the fish in, and I could feel all the feelings the Old Man was feeling, the determination, the exhaustion, all of it! I once spent 15 minutes landing a 19kg giant mekong catfish, and I was done! My hand muscles were so painful and I woke up the next morning with my hands frozen in the shape of claws!
