They took everything: her family, her home, her childhood.

By the age of nineteen, Raven has spent most of her life in the sprawling slums of America, fighting as a rebel against the dictatorship. When the rebellion steals an experimental time-travel device, she travels back five decades to the year 2013. Her plan: assassinate the future dictator when he is still young and vulnerable, long before he comes to power. She must move fast to reshape history, because agents from her own time are on her trail, ready to execute her on sight.

               My Thoughts

NOMAD is a truly original story. Jam packed with dystopian / time travel / save the world goodness !

J.L. Bryan set the bar high for me after reading and falling in love with his Paranormal series, and let me say he did not disappoint ! NOMAD has such an original plot, I love that I can't compare it to anything else. Raven, our young time traveler lands in 2013, five decades into the past. At first she doesn't have her memories and slowly finds out what her mission is, oh yeah ... Save the world from a horrible dictator... no biggie.
The then future dictator is now a young, non intimidating college student. Assassinating him might not be enough, she has to get " close" to find out what makes him go down that future path. She has to work quickly before agents from the future catch up with her before she can get the job done.
J.L. Bryan kept me on my toes with this story. I loved Ravens time spent in 2013, and all the lengths she took to keep normal and "on trend" with the time period. The relationship she built with her roomate was wonderful and unexpected, I love everything about this novel!

Hands down J.L. Bryan is on my AUTOMATIC READ LIST! I will hands down read anything else he writes.

Plot : Truly original

Characters: Relatable , I even got super attatched to side characters... like ALOT

Cover: My only criticism really is that I might not have picked up this book if I was just looking at the cover. It does show how Bad- A$$ Raven is but it seems too futuristic. Maybe its the Tin Foil .. sorry tough love.

Rating: a big fat 5 Stars !

  1. This sounds interesting. It's been a while since I have read "time-travel" concept. I will add this on my Goodreads TBR list.
