Cinder, the cyborg mechanic, returns in the second thrilling installment of the bestselling Lunar Chronicles. She's trying to break out of prison—even though if she succeeds, she'll be the Commonwealth's most wanted fugitive.

Halfway around the world, Scarlet Benoit's grandmother is missing. It turns out there are many things Scarlet doesn't know about her grandmother or the grave danger she has lived in her whole life. When Scarlet encounters Wolf, a street fighter who may have information as to her grandmother's whereabouts, she is loath to trust this stranger, but is inexplicably drawn to him, and he to her. As Scarlet and Wolf unravel one mystery, they encounter another when they meet Cinder. Now, all of them must stay one step ahead of the vicious Lunar Queen Levana, who will do anything for the handsome Prince Kai to become her husband, her king, her prisoner

                    My Thoughts

Sometimes all you can say is AWESOME !  This series is just jam packed with so much awesomeness that I feel the need to express myself through Honey Boo Boo.
<------------------------------------

For starters I normally find all book 2's of a series to be slow , and more of a filler. The same can NOT be said for Scarlet .

Scarlet picks right up where we left off,  with Cinder in custody. While planning her escape she somehow gets paired up with fellow inmate, Throne. He is everything Cinder is not ; cocky, arogant, witty, which makes him the perfect person to escape prison with. Even though Throne knows that Cinder is Lunar and a Cyborg he doesn't know who she really is, and what he has gotten himself into. At the same time we are introduced to a new character , Scarlet . Scarlet is in search of her missing grandmother while running into a new and handsome stranger in town who goes by Wolf. Without giving too much away, Scarlet and Wolf are all Connected to Cinder and her past. Scarlet follows both Cinder & Throne's and Scarlet & Wolf's journey till they all meet up at the end.

Wolf              Scarlet              Kai                Cinder           Throne

I was totally content with Cinder , Kai , and Iko. I had NOOOO idea how much I would love the introduction of these new characters!!! Now I can't imagine this series without Throne, Scarlet and Wolf in the mix !

And last, but certainly not least, IKO! Our beloved robotic comic relief also knows as Cinders B.F.F. Last time we saw Iko, Adri had sold her for parts but luckily she left behind her program chip. Iko gets another body, but not one she would have ever wished for. I love how Human like Iko can be, so self conscious of her new "body". She even mentions to Cinder once about picking up an escort drone for her later ... if there is time.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this series. Best new series hands down! Can't wait to get my greedy little hand on Cress, coming out Feb 4th !

The Lunar Chronicles is a must have for fans of ABC's Once Upon A Time

Also if you haven't already, be sure to check out my review for Cinder !

Have you read Cinder or Scarlet ? Whats your take on Fairy tale re-do's?!

  3. What an excellent, well thought out, clean and well written series! Good for adults and teens! I read lot of ya and most of it seems hastily put together without satisfactory character development or world building, but Ms. Meyer has put out a story that is really worth reading, twice even. Bravo!
