Top Ten Books Featuring Travel In Some Way

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by

This Week's Topic is:

Top Ten Books Featuring Travel In Some Way

# 1 & 2 The Time Travelers Wife

Audrey Niffenegger

Krisha : With "travel" in the title, this was a sure fit for this weeks TTT.  I thought it was interesting that as Henry was travelling through time, Claire was having to cope with her own personal journey of who she was.

Katie : Traveling through time ... forward and back ward, never knowing when or where you are going to end up! The TTW is a great book about a love story through time !

# 3 The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle

Avi

Krisha: The entire book takes place in the 19th century aboard a ship that travels from England to the United States.  It's been a while since I read this, but I'm think it was written in diary format.

# 4 Glow

Amy Kathleen Ryan

Katie: SPACE SHIPS! Thats right, an awesome action packed book about one spaceship getting highjacked by another spaceship and a race to reach New Earth. Traveling has never been more intense than it is in Glow!

# 5 Milk Glass Moon

Adriana Trigiani

Krisha: This is the 3rd book in the Big Stone Gap series.  Ava and her daughter travel from small town Virginia to see her family in the mountains of Italy.  The book is very accurate in the town descriptions and locations.  There are even authentic Italian recipes included!

# 6 On the Road

Jack Kerouac

Katie: Well this is not really my typical read.. This is more up my husbands ally. I bought him the audio book, and I was forced to listen to it on a long trip to Florida. I realize this is a classic for many but it wasn't really for me.. but it's a traveling book 100%. They just seem to drive aimlessly with no plans, so it's a great book about being out on the open road.

# 7 Madman's Daughter

Megan Shepherd

Krisha: so I haven't actually read this one yet because I'm behind on my review books.  But I do know it was inspired by The Island of Dr. Moreau.  It seems that the main character has discovered that her father is alive and she travels to the island where he is doing the crazy experiments.  I can not WAIT to read this!

# 8 Jenny Pox Series

J.L. Bryan

Katie: I know .. im breaking the rules I know, but this series takes place in so many places and does a great job making me feel like I was there. Mexico, Paris, Even flashbacks to Germany. The Jenny Pox series was not short on traveling destinations. My favorite thing part however was while reading  book two in the series, Alexander Death, Two Paranormal investigators were driving through Crawley West Virginia and.. BAM... my mind was blown! I lived in Crawley WV for two years and it is the middle of nowhere, believe me!! But I felt soo special! I felt like J.L. Bryan KNEW ME!!  It was an awesome feeling! Great Series! I Have said it a Million times! Jenny Pox ( The Paranormal Series ) is a must read!!!

# 9 The Starlight Crystal

Christopher Pike

Krisha:  I just remembered this book today and it gave me that " ah ha" moment to why I love The Time Travelers Wife so much.  This is a love story that spans through time, space, loss, and even through genetic memory.  Crazy stuff!  Katie's sister borrowed my copy years ago and I bet she loves this book more than I do.  It's an oldie but goodie.

# 10 Water for Elephants

Sara Gruen

Katie: Great Read! Check out our Video Review for Water for Elephants. If you haven't read it the book involves a love story and a traveling circus. Train Travel makes for a great story!

  9. Great list! I love that you both picked The Time Traveler's Wife. One of these days, I must finish that one; I started it while visiting my parents, but had to leave it behind when I came home. There are a few other books on your list that I'd like to read someday, too... the Charlotte Doyle book, and possibly Water for Elephants.
