The Death of GFC ?

So the end of the world is near. We have been hearing a lot lately about the impending death of Google Friend Connect. Thoughts? We would love to know what you guy think, and even more so, what is your back up option? I have seen many blogs with the Bloglovin button on their page, so we thought we would sign up for that as well.

So let us know. Is GFC going away, and if so, what is the back up option for gaining "followers" ?

  1. I have a wordpress.org blog, so I don't have GFC anymore. I've been using bloglovin, RSS, and email subscription to allow people to follow my blog.

  4. Didn't they talk about this about a year ago? I remember panicking at the thought of losing it. But now I've switched to Wordpress, so it doesn't matter anyway >.<
It is rather scary to lose GFC, though...that was my main fear of switching to WP.

    1. yeah i have read articles talking about gfc's doom.. and then i see that these articles are old.. but i guess just in case it does happen.. eventually that we might need another platform for gaining followers. and now i am really glad that I did so that we can make friends with our wordpress bloggers as well! - Katie

  5. I don't use GFC on my blog since I have a self hosted wordpress blog. Ever since I started the blog I used email and RSS subscriptions, and then in fall 2012 I started using Bloglovin, it seems that ever since a few weeks ago, Bloglovin has gotten a lot more popular than it was when I signed up a few months ago. Yet I only started getting followers last week, which makes sense since lots of people just signed up a few weeks ago. So basically, it doesn't matter to me if GFC goes.
